Research Interests

•  Carbon, nutrient and water dynamics in agricultural and forest ecosystems and modelling these cycles through soil, vegetation and atmosphere.

•  Impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems.

•  Large scale applications of ecosystem models linked to spatial databases.

•  Development and application of ecosystem models for scientific research and as decision support tools for policy and industry.

 

Current Projects

•  Carbon balances and carbon sequestration of forest biomes (Victorian Greenhouse Strategy Project, 2003-2006)

•  Greenhouse gas emissions in forest ecosystems (ARC Linkage Grant, LP0455475, 2004-2007)

 

Qualifications and previous positions

•  October 2004 to present: Research Fellow at Department of Forest and Ecosystem Science (Forests, Climate Change and Greenhouse Research), University of Melbourne.

•  June 2003 to October 2004: Scientist/Modeller, Department of Sustainability and Environment (Greenhouse Technical Unit), Creswick.

•  April 2002 to June 2002: Masters (Diploma) at the University of Augsburg and the Technical University Munich (both in Germany).

•  January 2001 to December 2001: Honours at the Fraunhofer Institute for Atmospheric Environmental Research, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany .
