Research

Development of a business application to facilitate modern plantation management for Pinus radiata and blue gum plantations including: stand information; harvest scheduling; inventory yield prediction; financial analysis.

Evaluation of hand-held computing devices for field-based data collection. Prototyping and evaluating data collection software for hand held computers in terms of error rates, ease of use and suitability to different working environments.

 

Other Professional Interests

  1. Application of modern systems analysis and design paradigms to forest management processes.
  2. Maximising the benefit of advances in computing hardware/software to forest management.
  3. Use of widely available off-the-shelf technologies for field based forest management, eg, digital cameras in conjunction with remotely controlled devices for forest assessment.
